Hair Length (Week 1 in Hair Challenge)
Here are some hair measurments that i just took. I should have dont this before i styled my hair, but they are pretty accurate. I am going to be checking my length like about every 2 weeks, depending on the style......and then at then end of the challenge i will be checking to see how much growth i was able to retain....
Measurments : ( i measured with hair in twist)
Leftside Back: 7 inches
Rightside Back: 7.5 inches
Middle: 9.5 inches
Front: 8.5 inches
It says that he hair grows half an inch every month so if i am doing this challenge for two months, these should my ending results........
Leftside Back: 8 inches
Rightside Back: 8.5 inches
Middle: 10.5 inches
Front: 9.5 inches

Challenge Relapse lol Day 2
Hey,
So i almost relapsed this morning lol. I was trying to figure out a style that would last longer than the twist in my hair. Then i thought, i can do the hait style i have now but with corn rows and braids. So as i was about to take my hair out i stopped myself and said "nope, dont do it. try to keep it in for at least a week then switch it up.
Another thing that i want to try to switch up the challenge a little bit is to massage thge scalp as a part of my nightly routine.Oh, and when your head is itching to use the ball of your finger tips and gently rub the part of yor head that is itching. i heared that this will make a big difference!
I am trying so hard not to play in my hair lol.....this is turning out to really be a challenge. But i know that this will help my hair in the long run.Good luck to all, stay blessed and remember,

Hair Challenge 10-26-2009---12-26-2009
Hey ladies, today is day 1 of the hair challenge. So my hairstyle for the week is flat twist on top with 2 strand twist in the back. Now this is really going to be a challenge for me beacsue i love messing in my hair, which is one of the reasons i did not do extensions as a protective style. And becasue there bigger twist i may need to redo them this week. Oh, before i forget i need to go out and buy accesories, for my hair..... i am more of an accesorie junkie than annything else....lol

Sanai's Protective Hairstyle
Sanai is my oldest baby girl. I am also doing her hair in protective styles, she is in school and it makes is easier for us to get through the morning..
what i dd was mix some conditioner with olove oil and honey, seperated her hair into four sections and applied the mixture. I let this sit for an half hour then washed it out. it left her hair well moisturized and shinny. I love it!!!! After it made it easy to comb out and detangle. As you can see i put her hair in pony tail twist and beaded the ends. This will last about a week, untill next sunday when we do it again.....

2 Month Natural Hair Challenge
Hey ladies. I live in new england aka connecticut and for those of you who know, the winter here is freezing cold. So i love waering my hair out, but i realize that i have to protect my ends which is why i am looking for protective hairstyles. I stumbled across this Hair Challenge that last about 2 months.....Natralbells ( youtube channel name) laid out the rules, so i decided to take up the challenge and to document my process and progree hair.
if u wanna watch the video this is her link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8OZ0yzRBqM&feature=related
Here were her rules....
1. Proctective styling- the whole challenge your hair is to be in protective styles
2. Water, water, water.....drink at minimum 32 oz. a day
3. Moisturize your ends daily
4. No heat/ or low heat ( if u use heat at least once a month)
5. Stick to your routine/ stick to your products ( swithcing can cause your hair to be confused and cause tension)
Some changes i am adding to this challenge is to massage your hair nightly/daily wich ever fits your schedule best, and to rub scalp instead of scrathing, and to take a vitamin, prenatals preferably.
Remember Keep it Natural, Keep it Beautiful...!

Our Children's Natural Hair
Ok, when i went natural i was still using products on my daughter's hair that was not good for it. Then i thought, i want my daughter's ( i had another baby in june) to grow up loving thier hair the way that God made it. And i want to be a good example. So i vow never to put a a relaxer in their hair. So anyway, a funny story, well i thought it was. My aunt was doing her hair and putting grease in it and my daighter ( who is 3) told her...."my mommy said no grease!" lol i thought it was funny, so i told my aunt that i only use what i use in my hair so no grease!
Any way's (i got off topic) dating back to when our ancestors landed in american doing hair was a bonding process. I try and make hair time as fun as possible, she colors, or i give her a comb and a brucs and she does her own section of hair, even now i noticed that she loves to do her hair. I dedicate Sunday night to our hair,in future post i will make sure to have pictures of how i do her hair and he weekly, bi-weekly routines........
Remember when it come to our babies Keep It Natural, Keep It Beautiful!!!!

My Products...
I am in no way shape or form a product junkie lol. I only have a handful of products that i use that keeps my hair moisturized and lookin' great. When there is a product that i want to try, i leave something out and use the new product for a while. Any-who, here are the products that i use.....
1. Water- water is very important for our hair, i have read alot of things that warn against using "hard water", that is water that comes from our sinks because of the things that it may have in it. When i condition i do use hard water, but for any other usage i boil the water first, which is called "distilled" water.
2.Shea butter/olive oil mix- i use unrefined shea butter that i order form butters-n-bars.com. i ordered a pound of it. when you get it it will be in 2 8 0z containers. i mix one container with olive oil and blend. i love how it makes my hair feel....
3.Olive oil- when i noticed that my edges were falling out (thanx to all the pulling with my puff, i stopped making my puffs so tight) i usually apply it around my edges at night and i oil my ends...
4. Suave Natural's Tropical Coconut Conditioner- I was using this, but after researching the ingredients i noticed it was not 100% natural so i am discontinuing this product and trying an avocodo dep conditon so ill get back to you on that one.
That's it!.... As of now those are the only products that i use, i'll up date the list as i go along but for now these are the products that i find work well in my hair
